UK neo-soul artist Tia Gordon returns with her six-track EP ‘i asked the stars for this. X’, released alongside her uplifting new single ‘friends’ produced by Atlanta Raised, Los Angeles based Earl Hondo. Warm and heartfelt, ‘friends’ is a celebration of connection and family, a love letter to her inner circle, written while Tia was in the US navigating a sense of homesickness. The accompanying video, shot in London by Anna Paterson captures the emotion of the single, following Tia as she cycles through the park, and reconnects with friends. Soft, colourful visuals weave together moments of joy, mirroring the song’s themes of love, distance, and togetherness. Speaking on the EP, Tia said "I’m really proud of this EP, it captures a moment in my life I’ll never forget. I’m incredibly grateful for all the people I had the privilege of creating with. This project is a celebration of what happens when you let go, trust the process, and focus on making music and building real connections"
Setting the tone for the forthcoming EP, the first single ‘love,’ introduced a stripped-back and emotionally rich sound rooted in longing and romance, drawing from the expressive spirit of ’70s soul. In contrast, ‘friends’ offers a tender yet optimistic entry point into the project’s emotional landscape. Grounded in gratitude and vulnerability, it highlights Tia’s gift for transforming personal moments into universally resonant storytelling. The EP also features the introspective single “should i give it up,” produced by Grammy Award–winner Brasstracks (Chance The Rapper, Harry Styles). Where “friends” radiates warmth, this track leans into internal conflict and self-doubt, as Tia reflects on her music career and sense of self-belief. Together, these releases showcase the emotional breadth of ‘i asked the stars for this. X.’ Arriving alongside ‘friends’ are three previously unreleased tracks: ‘till we’re 85,’ ‘fever dream,’ and ‘landslide.’ Developed between London and Los Angeles, ‘i asked the stars for this. x’ sees Tia collaborating with an impressive roster of creatives, including TAVE (6LACK, SiR), Earl Hondo, Fred Cox (Odeal), V-Ron (Tems, Playboi Carti), and longtime collaborators Pip Millett and Darryl Dodoo. What began as a daunting experience ultimately became a creative breakthrough, pushing Tia toward a more instinctive and fluid songwriting process. Rather than adhering to a fixed concept, the EP unfolds as a deeply personal collection shaped by emotion and lived experience. At its core, the project explores connection in all its forms, from the ache of missing friends to the exhilaration of new love and the courage it takes to remain open in the face of vulnerability.
Born in Croydon and now based in Kent, Tia has been singing since the age of four. Her songwriting journey began as a teenager after being gifted a guitar by her best friend, inspiring her to start writing and producing her own music. She first shared songs anonymously on SoundCloud, quickly building an organic audience before stepping forward publicly with her music in 2019. Since then, she has grown into one of the UK’s most exciting emerging neo-soul voices, now reaching over 500,000 monthly listeners and receiving co-signs from artists including Mahalia, Berwyn, Pip Millett and Mabel. Her debut single ‘Call Me’ arrived in 2022, earning support from tastemakers including Abbie McCarthy, DJ Target, Victoria Jane, and Rickie, Melvin & Charlie. Follow-up single ‘Price You Pay’ saw her selected for the BBC Introducing Live Lounge competition, finishing as runner-up after impressing judges Mahalia and Mabel. Later that year, Mahalia personally invited her to perform at the sold-out Mahalia Presents show at Lafayette in London, marking Tia’s debut full-band performance alongside Sasha Keable and RUTI. In 2023, she released fan favourite ‘Cold Showers’, which has over 10M Spotify streams, the release received strong support culminating with Tia headlining the BBC Introducing stage at Roundhouse Rising x BBC Introducing Live Festival. Her debut EP ‘with love. x’ came in 2024, exploring themes of self-worth, heartbreak and healing including another fan favourite ‘its so nice’. Tia sold-out her headline show at Servant Jazz Quarters, momentum continued into 2025 with her sophomore EP ‘wait! I have something to say. x’, created alongside collaborators including Pip Millett, Sophie Faith, Mom Tudie, Jay Lewn and Darryl Dodoo. That summer, she performed at Cross The Tracks, sold out her second headline show at Omeara, and made her international debut at Supafly Festival in Amsterdam.
With ‘i asked the stars for this. x’ Tia Gordon further refines her signature blend of soulful vocals and candid storytelling, delivering a body of work that feels both timeless and vulnerable. The project captures an artist in the midst of rediscovering joy and creative freedom, marking a confident new chapter in her evolution. Following recent performances at Oyster Festival in Amsterdam, as well as appearing at Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Tia has been building strong momentum. Her single ‘should i give it up’ has garnered widespread support from tastemakers including Notion, DIY, Wonderland, EE72, MTV UK, The Blues Project, Target, Maia Beth, Rebecca Judd, CassKidd, Dotty, and Sunday Brunch, among others. With an EP launch event in London set to coincide with the release, alongside upcoming festival performances at Back of House Festival and a debut UK and EU headline tour planned for later in 2026, Tia Gordon is firmly establishing herself as one of the UK’s most compelling emerging voices in contemporary soul.

Don’t mind the time of the day
The pub or your place
The feelings always the same
I miss the look of your face
you always know what to say
The pictures never the same
No no
Cause we’re all chasing the game
Chasing the game
Chasing the game
My my friends
My friends
Pick me up when I’m down
And dust off my crown
My my friends
