UK neo-soul artist Tia Gordon returns with her new single ‘should i give it up’, the second release from her forthcoming 6-track EP ‘i asked the stars for this. x’, due for release on 6th May. Produced by three-time Grammy Award–winning producer Brasstracks (Chance The Rapper, Harry Styles), ‘should i give it up’ invites listeners into an internal battle as Tia questions both her music career and her sense of self-belief. It's a song that highlights life's complexities, commenting on the societal and existential pressures we battle with internally and externally. The accompanying music video, directed by Purple Silk, captures the song’s character through a series of shots showing Tia in two contrasting spaces as she grapples with her thoughts and emotions. Setting the tone for the forthcoming EP, the first single, “love,” released last month, was a stripped-back and emotionally rich track that leans into yearning and romance, drawing inspiration from the expressive spirit of ’70s soul.

Born in Croydon and now based in Kent, Tia has been singing since the age of four. Her songwriting journey began as a teenager after being gifted a guitar by her best friend, inspiring her to start writing and producing her own music. She first shared songs anonymously on SoundCloud, quickly building an organic audience before stepping forward publicly with her music in 2019. Since then, she has grown into one of the UK’s most exciting emerging neo-soul voices, now reaching over 500,000 monthly listeners and receiving co-signs from artists including Mahalia, Berwyn, Pip Millett and Mabel. Her debut single ‘Call Me’ arrived in 2022, earning support from tastemakers including Abbie McCarthy, DJ Target, Victoria Jane, and Rickie, Melvin & Charlie. Follow-up single ‘Price You Pay’ saw her selected for the BBC Introducing Live Lounge competition, finishing as runner-up after impressing judges Mahalia and Mabel. Later that year, Mahalia personally invited her to perform at the sold-out Mahalia Presents show at Lafayette in London, marking Tia’s debut full-band performance alongside Sasha Keable and RUTI. In 2023, she released fan favourite ‘Cold Showers’, which has over 10M Spotify streams, the release received strong support culminating with Tia headlining the BBC Introducing stage at Roundhouse Rising x BBC Introducing Live Festival. Her debut EP ‘with love. x’ came in 2024, exploring themes of self-worth, heartbreak and healing including another fan favourite ‘its so nice’. Tia sold-out her headline show at Servant Jazz Quarters, momentum continued into 2025 with her sophomore EP ‘wait! I have something to say. x’, created alongside collaborators including Pip Millett, Sophie Faith, Mom Tudie, Jay Lewn and Darryl Dodoo. That summer, she performed at Cross The Tracks, sold out her second headline show at Omeara, and made her international debut at Supafly Festival in Amsterdam.

Tia’s latest EP ‘i asked the stars for this. x’ was developed between Los Angeles and London, where she collaborated with acclaimed producers and writers including Grammy nominated producer TAVE (6lack, SIR), Earl Hondo, Fred Cox (Odeal), Brasstracks  (Chance The Rapper, Harry Styles), V-Ron (Tems, Playboy Carti) and long term collaborators Pip Millet and Darryl Dodoo. Working far from home with new collaborators initially felt daunting, but the experience soon became a creative breakthrough. The sessions pushed Tia beyond her comfort zone and introduced a faster, more instinctive way of writing, with songs often beginning from simple chords or instrumentals and developing through short, improvisational sessions. Rather than following a strict concept, ‘i asked the stars for this.x’ is a collection of songs Tia feels deeply connected to. At its core, her music explores connection: the ache of missing friends, the rush of falling in love, and the quiet courage it takes to open yourself up again. With a voice rooted in soul and songwriting defined by honesty and vulnerability, Tia is carving out a space that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Now returning with ‘should i give it up’, she reveals another side of her artistry, offering a first glimpse into ‘i asked the stars for this. x’ a project that expands on the emotional honesty and soulful storytelling that define her sound. Exploring themes of love, friendship and personal growth, the forthcoming EP captures an artist rediscovering joy and vulnerability after a period shaped by heartbreak. Following a performance at Oyster Festival in Amsterdam alongside Ledbyher and BXKS, Tia continues to build momentum with upcoming appearances at Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Back Of House Festival and Walk Up Festival in France. With new music arriving this spring and a debut UK and EU headline tour planned for later in 2026, Tia is cementing her place as one of the UK’s most compelling emerging voices in contemporary soul.

  • If I give it up

I won’t be the greatest in my hometown

And if I give it up

I can’t buy my dad a new house

Like am I good at this?

Am I really good at this?

    I question every single move

    I’ve Ever made

    Say it again

    Say it again

    Should I give it up?

    Should I give it up?

    Say it again

    Say it again

    With a little luck

    And alot of love

Said if I give this up

I never step a foot inside a studio again

Like do I call my bluff?

Am I being quick to judge?

Just wanna play to all those people

    At my shows

But am I good at this?

    Any good at this?

    I question every single move

    I’ve ever made

    Say it again

    Say it again

    Should I give it up?

    Should I give it up?

    Say it again

    Say it again

    With a little luck

    And alot of love

    Say it again

    Say it again

    Should I give it up?

    Should I give it up?

    Say it again

    Say it again

    With a little luck

    And alot of love
