DMA’S have ignited their new era of music with new single ‘My Baby’s Place’; a reflective, nostalgic, vulnerable track that feels instantly familiar and comes with an accompanying music video that draws out a unifying feeling of youthful longing. Listen & watch here.
“‘My Baby’s Place’” began with the verses, written around a back and forth between gratitude and destitution” Matt Mason reflects. “I finished the choruses last year, at a time when a few chapters were closing and it all clicked, so it felt right to record it ourselves in our studio in Glebe, Sydney”.
With its reminiscent sound, ‘My Baby’s Place’ is a gorgeous reminder of the anthemic, hooky, singalong songs the trio are famous for, and is highlighted by the band entirely self-producing this new evolution of music.
The new track is particularly apt in a year that marks the 10th anniversary of their seismic debut album, Hills End. Fans will be able to celebrate the album at a one-off, sold-out anniversary show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre next Friday, March 27.
Today’s release see’s the band further build on their incredible history that has seen them deliver four critically acclaimed albums, Hills End (2016), For Now (2018), THE GLOW (2020) and How Many Dreams? (2023), each landing towards the top end of the ARIA Top 10, and with the last 2 albums, THE GLOW and How Many Dreams reaching #4 and #3 respectively on the UK album chart.
The band has accrued over 500 million streams across their catalogue, four multi-platinum singles, multiple ARIA Award nominations, including a win in 2023 for Best Group, and 13 songs in triple j’s coveted Hottest 100, highlighted by their Like A Version cover of Cher’s ‘Believe’, which topped the Hottest 100 Like A Versions of All Time in 2023.
DMA’S are Johnny Took, Matt Mason and Tommy O’Dell.

Verse 1
(every time i hear the one)
If I had what you had
(back and forth in front of me)
I’d wake every morning
(why won’t you explain to me)
And tell her I love you
(i fear you're right, internally)
There’s something about it
(every time i hear the one)
If I felt what you feel
(back and forth in front of me)
I’d model the moment
(why won’t you explain to me)
Rewind Rewind
(i fear your right, internally)
There’s no way around it
Pre Chorus
Don't call me on my phone
Chorus
Cause’ I don’t wanna stay here no more
I don’t feel like walking around
I’m going to my Baby’s place
I’m going to my Baby’s place
I don’t wanna stay here no more
I don’t feel like walking around
I’m going to my Baby’s place
I’m going to my Baby’s place
Verse 2
(every time i hear the one)
If I saw what you see
(back and forth in front of me)
I’d replay the memories
(why won’t you explain to me)
Rewind Rewind
(i fear your right, internally)
No two ways about it
Pre Chorus
Don’t call me on my phone
Don’t call me on my phone
Chorus
Cause’ I don’t wanna stay here no more
I don’t feel like walking around
I’m going to my Baby’s place
I’m going to my Baby’s place
I don’t wanna stay here no more
I don’t feel like walking around
I’m going to my Baby’s place
I’m going to my Baby’s place
every time i hear the one
back and forth in front of me
why won’t you explain to me
i fear you're right, internally
every time i hear the one
(Rewind Rewind)
back and forth in front of me
why won’t you explain to me
(Rewind Rewind)
i fear your right, internally
Come on and let’s just rewind
Rewind, Rewind, Rewind
Come on and let’s just rewind
Rewind, Rewind, Rewind
Chorus
(Come on and let’s just rewind)
I don’t wanna stay here no more
(Rewind, Rewind, Rewind)
I don’t feel like walking around
(Come on and let’s just rewind)
I’m going to my Baby’s place
(Rewind, Rewind, Rewind)
I’m going to my Baby’s place
