DC links up with Bawo for music video for new single “Misunderstood”
DC - Misunderstood (Official Video) ft. Bawo
Today, South London artist DC drops his new single ‘Misunderstood’ featuring Bawo.
‘Misunderstood’ sees DC further refine his signature style, blending introspective lyricism with sharp, observational storytelling. The single features Bawo, whose genre-blurring approach adds another layer of depth to the track.
Speaking about the track DC says: ‘Misunderstood is a song that’s about reality vs perception & it’s summed up by the first two lines; Being viewed as anti when there’s a reason behind that (environment). It lends itself to the idea that “all things can be true” and I wanted it to feel upbeat as song’s like this are easy to make sound dark and moody’.
Amassing over 2.8 million streams to date, DC has been championed by key tastemakers including HUNGER, CLASH, NOTION, Wonderland, Complex and COLORS, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra and Rinse FM. He’s also garnered support from DJ Semtex, Target, Sian Anderson and Esi who continue to champion him. The release marks another strong collaborative moment for DC, following links with TSB and Cristale on ‘PAP£R PLAN£$’, and the cross-European remix of ‘The Curb’ featuring JolaGreen and Chivv.
Bawo arrives on ‘Misunderstood’ amid a steady rise as one of the UK’s most distinctive emerging voices. Known for his honest songwriting and experimental soundscapes, he has built an organic fanbase through releases such as ‘No Sleep’, ‘Starts With A Text’, ‘Headtop Buss From Luss’ and ‘SKATE’, alongside projects including ‘Legitimate Cause’ and ‘It Means Hope Where I’m From’. With millions of streams and critical acclaim from outlets including The Guardian and COLORS, Bawo continues to push boundaries both sonically and visually.
DC continues his upward trajectory with ‘Misunderstood’, a standout release set to connect on a wider scale and push his sound even further. ‘Misunderstood’ ft. Bawo is out now.
