UK Hip hop star BackRoad Gee returns with a new music video for summer ready single “Up & Down”. BackRoad Gee recently released an 8-track project "Live In The Flesh" after a short hiatus. True to his legacy, the project runs on the same high-energy that's built his following on a global scale while driving into new creative pockets. Across the EP, Afro-centred influences sit alongside the potent Rap heaters which his fans have come to know and love him for, a blend that's become a core backbone of his brand. “Live In The Flesh” pulls together different strands of the scene too, with heavyweight Grime features from D Double E on “Young Boy” and Scorcher on “Wonder” as well as Shaybo who brings her own dynamic angle to the project on “Let Me In”. Lead single "Spin Your Block," featuring Pa Salieu - which was released last month - has already picked up support from BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, NME and COLORS, and it’s safe to say Backroad Gee steps into his next chapter with integrity with "Live In The Flesh,"
One of the UK's most electrifying rap voices, BackRoad Gee is known for explosive energy, unpredictable flows and a seamless fusion of grime, rap and Afro-influenced sound. London-raised with Congolese heritage, BRG is a multilingual lyricist moving fluently between English, Lingala, French and Arabic, a range that has carried him into rooms with Chase & Status, Beenie Man, Dizzee Rascal and Lethal Bizzle. He remains the only UK rapper with an official Jay-Z feature, on "King Kong Riddim" for The Harder They Fall soundtrack, while his breakout "Party Popper" with Pa Salieu, the acclaimed EP "Mukta vs Mukta" and the MOBO-nominated "My Family" cemented him as one of British rap's most distinctive forces. His previous success runs wide: spins on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, a 2023 Puma partnership, nominations at the MOBO and GRM Rated Awards, editorial in The Guardian and Revolt, a national tour with Dizzee Rascal, an opening slot for Fally Ipupa and a 2023 acting debut in Daniel Kaluuya's Netflix film "The Kitchen." The last few years haven't been easy, with the death of his mother and taking full custody of his sister reshaping his world. The music he's making now comes directly out of that period, and marks what he calls a musical rebirth, arriving with a fresh perspective on his craft.
“Live In The Flesh" isn't just BackRoad Gee’s return, it's a recalibration and he is ready to show how prepared he is for this next chapter.
