Today, 6th March 2026, Skyla Tylaa joins forces with Kitty Amor and Ruger to release their highly anticipated new single, “Mean 2 Me.” The trio came together in London, where the record was born during a late-night studio session that allowed ideas to flow freely and organically. Having built a friendship over the years, Skyla and Ruger, widely regarded as one of the leading voices of Afrobeats’ new generation, share a connection rooted in mutual respect and a shared ambition to push creative boundaries. From that initial spark, the vision evolved into something unexpected: an Afrohouse record crafted to surprise fans and showcase a different side of both artists. After connecting on tour last year, Kitty Amor, a leading force in the Afrohouse scene, brought in her influence and expertise to help shape the track into its final form. Skyla credits Kitty for the guidance and insight she gained throughout the process, describing the experience as both inspiring and transformative. Staying true to Skyla’s tried-and-tested approach, previously used on releases including “Vele Uyena” and “Bombshell”, the track was road-tested extensively in her sets throughout the past year, allowing them to carefully refine its structure, style and mix before its official release. The video goes live tonight at 6 pm GMT.
2025 marked a defining turning point for Skyla Tylaa as she stepped fully into her artist era. Building on the explosive momentum of her breakout single “Bombshell”, which has now surpassed 3 million views, Skyla cemented her position as far more than a DJ, emerging as a fully realised, globally resonant artist. She carried that momentum into “Vele Uyena (Risk It All),” a club-tested, road-ready release uniting a powerhouse lineup: South African producer JAZZWRLD, Thukuthela, Elaine, and sax virtuoso Solaariss. Already certified Gold in South Africa and surpassing 7 million streams, the track stands as another milestone in Skyla Tylaa’s rapidly expanding global catalogue. Beyond the studio, her impact has been felt across dancefloors worldwide: from soundtracking Drake’s NOCTA party and commanding Skepta’s Big Smoke stage, to opening for Honey Dijon in Ibiza, before closing the year with an African tour that culminated in a standout headline show in Lagos. Selling out headline dates across London, Nigeria and Ghana, fronting major magazines, and earning recognition as one of Mixmag’s Breakthrough DJs of the Year, Skyla’s ascent has been undeniable. Last summer alone saw her sell out Fabric, headline DJ Mag HQ’s livestream and dominate festival stages, a relentless run signalling an artist operating at full velocity. Catch Skyla Tylaa in London as she takes over KOKO on 10th April for an unmissable headline show.
Kitty Amor is a London-based DJ, producer and cultural force whose uplifting, empowering sound has positioned her as a leading champion of African and African-influenced electronic music on the global stage. A respected tastemaker and curator, she has delivered standout sets at fabric, Junction 2 and Tomorrowland, alongside a sold out headline ADE takeover in the A’Dam tower, steadily building a reputation for powerful, spiritually charged performances. In 2025, her musical artistry was really brought into the spotlight through a weighty collaboration with Alan Dixon ‘One Night’, released on Kitty Amor’s own label Mahaba Music. Her release ‘The Black Dream’ via Realm Records featuring Lazarusman had a global impact, signalling another major milestone, underlining her rapid ascent and continued mission to amplify African electronic music to audiences worldwide..
Ruger stands as one of Afrobeats’ most distinctive and dynamic voices, seamlessly blending dancehall, R&B and unmistakable Nigerian flair into a sound that has propelled him from Lagos to sold-out stages around the world. With era-defining hits including “Bounce,” “Girlfriend,” “Asiwaju” and 2025’s viral smash “Toma Toma,” he has carved out a lane that is bold, confident and unapologetically his own. His sophomore album BlownBoy Ru (2025) further cements his status as a global force, featuring heavyweight collaborations with Tiwa Savage, Kranium, Zlatan and Haile. Continuously evolving both musically and visually, from his signature pink hair and eyepatch to his new bald-headed, shades-and-grills era, Ruger remains one of the most compelling and forward-moving stars in Afrobeats today.
