Today, November 21st, South London singer-songwriter Samm Henshaw releases "It Could Be Worse", available on vinyl only, alongside his new single “Float.” The track reflects on looking for love in the wrong places and the moment you realise that even good things don’t last forever. It’s about drifting through life, but also knowing when something is worth holding onto. Rather than leaning into the usual algorithm-led rollout, Samm is choosing a more grounded, offline approach this time. With the vinyl release comes news of a world tour: 33 cities across the US, Asia, and Europe, beginning in January and ending with a homecoming show at Koko in London on March 24th. Over the past week, Samm has previewed the album in intimate listening sessions in New York, Los Angeles, and London, giving fans an early glimpse of “It Could Be Worse” in a more personal setting.

Raised in South London, he first introduced himself in 2015 with “Only Wanna Be With You.” Three years later, he gained global traction with “How Does It Feel?” and “Broke,” gathering over 60 million Spotify streams. 2022 saw him drop Untidy Soul, powered by the fan favourite “Grow.” He incited applause on both sides of the Pond from the likes of NPR, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, COLORS, The Guardian, and NME who awarded it “4-out-of-5 stars” and hailed it as “a debut album that invites the listener on a voyage of self-discovery.” Earning the respect of his peers, he notably collaborated with everyone from Pharrell, Tori Kelly, EARTHGANG, Tobe Nwigwe, and Jacob Banks to Kota the Friend, Hulvey, and Adi Oasis. Not to mention, he shined as the rare dynamo who could hold his own on tour with either Chance the Rapper or James Bay and Allen Stone. He has also worked with Quincy Jones and Steven McQueen on Soundtrack Of America, amassed over 150M views on YouTube, and appeared in the critically acclaimed drama Godfather Of Harlem.

Taking his time, Samm co-produced and carefully crafted what would become “It Could Be Worse” during a series of sessions in Los Angeles with collaborators including Anoop D’Souza, OGI, and executive producer Josh Grant. In the midst of writing and recording, he endured a series of unfortunate events, most notably a difficult breakup that marked his first experience with such heartbreak. Channeling these emotions into the music, much of the material emerged in its aftermath. To complement the rawness of the lyrics and vocals, Samm recorded the entire LP with live musicians for the first time, a shift that brought a new dimension to the project. “It Could Be Worse” is available on vinyl now.
