Today, January 9th, Samm Henshaw releases his first single of the year, “Hair Down,” and announces that “It Could Be Worse”, previously a vinyl-only project, will finally arrive on streaming platforms on January 19th following widespread demand. Moving into an era where artists are taking control of their work and turning to alternative outlets as a more sustainable way to make music a livable profession, Samm has proven there is a real appetite for the anti-digital. By taking an unconventional route and working against the algorithm, he has already sold over 2000 vinyl records. Latest single “Hair Down” showcases a new side of Samm’s artistry. His effortless delivery glides over a groove-laden soundscape as he offers reassuring wisdom: “When you hate the way it feels child, let Jesus take the wheel.” The track closes with an uplifting chant, “Let your hair down.” To celebrate the release of “It Could Be Worse”, Samm will embark on a 30+-date tour across The US, Asia, and Europe, starting January 27th in Tokyo and concluding with a homecoming show at KOKO, London, on March 24th. In December, he hosted intimate listening sessions in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London, giving fans an early look at the album. Samm is set to perform tracks from the new album on BBC 1Xtra’s Live Lounge on 20th January.

Crafted over a series of Los Angeles sessions with collaborators including Anoop D’Souza, OGI, and executive producer Josh Grant, “It Could Be Worse” reflects a period of deep personal change. Samm wrote much of the album in the wake of a difficult breakup, his first real heartbreak. The result is a body of work grounded in vulnerability, emotional growth, and newfound maturity. For the first time, he recorded an entire project with live musicians, adding texture and immediacy to the storytelling.

Last year, Samm teased this new chapter with “Find My Love” featuring Tori Kelly, followed by “Float” and “Get Back,” all setting the tone for the upcoming album. To experience the album in all its beauty, you can catch Samm on his world tour this year. For more information on Samm Henshaw please visit Spotify Instagram TikTok.
