The Godfather of Trapwave M Huncho returns with the announcement of his forthcoming album “The Wizard”, landing June 19, alongside the release of new single “WE UP,” out now. Equal parts nocturnal flex and code-of-honour manifesto, “WE UP” finds Huncho locked into his own wavelength, brushing off outside noise, embracing the outsider role, and carving out a self-contained utopia with his day-ones close by. It is a song that embodies everything “The Wizard” stands for: music for moving differently, keeping it authentic, and swimming against the current while everyone else drifts with the tide. Loyal to his circle and unmoved by the industry static, Huncho is less interested in chasing approval than building a world of his own. “The Wizard” marks a notable shift for Huncho, whose masked persona has often positioned him more as an elusive figure than a fully visible individual. Across this project, he leans further into vulnerability and self-expression, using the Wizard of Oz motif as a framework to explore identity, perception, and personal growth. Given that fans have referred to him as “the wizard” for years, the concept feels like a natural extension of his mythology and identity.

On Friday, M Huncho unveiled the artwork for his forthcoming album “The Wizard” during an in-store event at LFDY in Soho. Created by 23-year-old artist Freddie Peacock, the piece continues Huncho’s long-standing approach of collaborating closely with artists to build immersive visual worlds around his music. Peacock’s work spans across music, fashion, and interiors, with collaborators including Reading and Leeds Festival, Chrome Hearts, Ebere Eze, JME, Unknown T, Kai Cenat (live opening), Madeline Argy and New Balance, alongside recognition from the Louis Vuitton Design Prize. Drawing inspiration from the enduring imagery and themes of The Wizard of Oz, the artwork reinterprets a familiar cultural reference through Huncho’s own lens, with Peacock bringing the world of “The Wizard” to life through detailed hand-painted visuals. The collaboration also reflects Huncho’s wider creative vision, which has consistently extended beyond music itself. Previous projects have seen him work with Lucien Clarke on his iconic mask design, Reuben Dangoor on the Chasing Euphoria artwork, and Slawn on My Neighbours Don’t Know.

M Huncho launched “The Wizard” era earlier this year with “Championship,” a statement release that reaffirmed his position as one of the UK’s defining rap voices. The track debuted on the UK Official Singles Chart, peaking at No. 43, while also landing in the Top 15 of the UK Hip-Hop & R&B chart. He followed in April with “Wizard of Oz,” produced by Aidan Lair and accompanied by an official video set within a grand manor house inspired by the Emerald City aesthetic. Expanding the world of the record beyond the screen, Huncho also staged a striking billboard takeover across London to mark the release. Operating in a deeply focused creative space, Huncho remains fully immersed in his artistry, continuing to refine his sound while evolving both musically and personally. Widely regarded as a pioneer of UK Trap Wave, Huncho continues to stand as one of the genre’s most influential and consistent figures, moving entirely on his own terms.

  • An enigmatic figure from North West London, M Huncho stands as a testament to the power of hard work and remaining grounded. Over the years he has delivered some of the UK scene’s most distinctive projects, freestyles and interviews. His breakthrough arrived with Utopia, which featured his biggest hit to date, “Tranquility.” He followed this with two Top 5 charting releases, Huncholini The 1st and Chasing Euphoria in 2022. His 2023 tape My Neighbours Don’t Know secured him another Top 10 entry. Through collaborations with artists including Headie One, Nafe Smallz, D Block Europe and Nines, Huncho has cultivated a global fanbase. His Mad About Bars freestyle has amassed more than 28 million views, while memorable appearances on GasWorks and Chicken Shop Date have further cemented his cultural impact. His dedication to his craft is clear. He has built a state of the art home studio where he now spends much of his time and continues to nurture his passions for fashion, art and comedy. Last year, he partnered with The Football Association on an exclusive M Huncho x FA mask released ahead of the FA Cup Final featuring Arsenal F.C.
