Irish alternative artist KhakiKid returns with his new single, 'Easy Does It' – a high-energy collaboration with Chameleon that captures the playful rebellion and creative spontaneity at the heart of his artistry. Already a fan favourite following recent live performances in London and Dublin, 'Easy Does It' arrives as one of KhakiKid's most anticipated releases to date. Produced by Chameleon, who also lends guest vocals, the track pairs infectious production and irresistible melodies with KhakiKid's sharp lyricism, resulting in a feel-good anthem that showcases two of Ireland's most distinctive voices at their most charismatic. The origins of the track are as freewheeling as the song itself. Much of 'Easy Does It' was conceived while KhakiKid cycled through Dublin, recording lyric ideas as voice notes on his phone. Inspired by ‘Country’ by Good Morning, those rough sketches were later brought to longtime collaborator Chameleon, who built an entirely new instrumental around them. In the process, the production and additional melodies reshaped the emotional weight and meaning of the original lyrics, giving the track its distinctive character. The single arrives alongside a fun-filled music video directed by Moses O’Halloran. The visual follows KhakiKid and his friends through a series of familiar settings, from playing chess at the local pub to the park, capturing their effortless camaraderie as the day gradually descends into chaos before culminating in a firework-filled finale. In true KhakiKid fashion, the video embraces his signature blend of humour, unpredictability and mischief. Speaking about the single, KhakiKid said: "It's about being a mess and knowing you don't deserve someone's love or affection, but still hoping they'll give you some. It's also about coming to terms with the fact that you can't just fix everything overnight and expect everything to be okay from then on."

Born and raised in Dublin, KhakiKid — real name Abdu — began writing raps at the age of 12, inspired by the raw storytelling of Eminem and 50 Cent, and the groundbreaking grime and rap music videos of Channel U. Over the years, he has crafted a sound entirely his own, offbeat, emotionally resonant, and infused with influences from Tyler, The Creator, Mac Miller, and Irish peers such as Bricknasty and Kojaque. Known for his inventive wordplay, and hands-on creative approach, KhakiKid not only writes and records his own material but also directs and edits his music videos. Themes of identity, belonging, and heritage play a central role in his work. Having grown up on a council estate in Dublin and spoken openly about living with ADHD and reconnecting with his Arab-Irish roots, KhakiKid brings a refreshing authenticity and emotional depth to his music. His live performances have become a hallmark of his artistry, energetic, heartfelt, and magnetic. Recent highlights include a sold-out headline show at Dublin’s iconic 3Olympia Theatre, performance on the Electric Arena Stage at Electric Picnic (12,000 capacity) and appearances at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, sharing the bill with Maverick Sabre, Aby Coulibaly, and Rejjie Snow amongst others. KhakiKid’s rise has been meteoric: he’s a Spotify RADAR: First Listen artist, he's amassed over 25 million streams, gained 100,000 new online followers in months, and received high-profile co-signs from Lola Young and Anderson Paak. Media acclaim has followed, with features in Wonderland, MTVUK, NME (100 Essential Artists) and Dazed, who hailed him as One to Watch for 2025. He has also been nominated in 2 of 5 categories at this year’s RTE Choice Music Prize, Breakthrough Artist and Song of the year for ‘Date Nite’ which he also performed on the Late Late Show.

The rise of KhakiKid shows no signs of slowing down. Fresh from the release of his acclaimed five-track EP ‘Girl Bites Dog’ in April, the Dublin artist continues to emerge as one of Ireland’s most distinctive voices, blending genre-fluid experimentation with an uncompromising creative vision. The EP received strong backing from BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists programme, earning airplay from Sian Eleri and widespread support from publications including Dazed, The Times, Hunger Magazine, Clash and NME. Now, with new single ‘Easy Does It’ arriving amidst a wave of growing attention, KhakiKid further underlines his reputation as one of the most exciting and unpredictable artists operating in the alternative space. His momentum has extended far beyond streaming platforms. A recent promotional clip for ‘Soul’ amassed more than 16 million views across social media, introducing his unique world-building and artistic identity to an increasingly global audience. The viral moment marked another milestone for an artist whose appeal continues to expand across both Ireland, the UK and beyond. A formidable live performer, KhakiKid recently hosted two listening events in London and Dublin, treating fans to performances alongside close friends F3miii, Kojaque, Saint DeMarcus as well as the live preview of ‘Easy Does It’ alongside Chameleon. The high energy performance of ‘Easy Does It’ quickly became the standout moment of both nights, generating buzz ahead of the single's release. KhakiKid returns to the UK this August to support The Streets at ‘Rock N Roll Circus’ in Norwich and Sheffield, before embarking on a run of headline shows this October across London, Manchester, Glasgow, Galway, Cork and Belfast. His London headline date sold out within minutes, prompting the addition of a second show to meet demand. With more new music on the horizon and an extensive run of live dates ahead, ‘Easy Does It’ feels less like a breakthrough moment and more like the start of something much bigger.
