DEELA - Slide (Official Video)
Nigerian-British rapper DEELA releases new single ‘Slide’ and announces forthcoming Mixtape, ‘Wicked’. In traditional DEELA-spirit, the 23-year-old offers a fearless and fierce approach on ‘Slide’ a globally-relevant sound produced by Genio Bambino (Cruel Santino, Davido) & Dëra (Bad Bunny, Jbalvin, Bryson Tiller), offering an energetic bounce to encapsulate her forthcoming “Wicked” era that marries good and evil. As ever, DEELA doesn’t refrain from experimenting, blending Rap with a dynamic instrumentation to curate a sonic which is dance-floor - something she made a conscious effort to do on the upcoming body of work. After returning with new single ‘Supreme Dee’ last month, DEELA made an appearance on FOUNDATION FM alongside close collaborations and fellow cultural-leaders Jacqueline Ezeuko and Diiamond for an all-exclusive ‘WICKED HOUR”.
"I wrote ‘Slide’ after a long hiatus of writing. I wasn’t feeling myself and it literally brought me out that shell I was in. It’s one of my more serious songs compared to the rest on the project. I’m just really affirming myself and claiming all the things I want for myself."
DEELA is a natural-born leader on a mission. During the pandemic, while completing her studies, Deela reconnected with life-long passion, music and began refining her sound, with a strong focus on Rap, a genre she had always admire At a time when female representation in the UK rap scene was limited, she found solidarity with emerging artists like Deto Black and brazy, forming her own creative community. After graduating, DEELA threw herself into music full-time, teaching herself the logistics of becoming an independent artist. Early support from innovators such as Cruel Santino and Mowalola gave her the confidence to move forward unapologetically. Having refined her sound, DEELA’s fearless blend of Trap and Hip-Hop began attracting attention on a larger scale, leading to organic collaborations with Flo Milli, Teni, BXKS, Len, and Coco & Clair Clair. Her empowering “girl boss” energy drives her mission to inspire others to live boldly and confidently. A major milestone in her journey came with the release of her 2024 EP “Good Girl Dey No Pay”, created with pioneering Alté producer Genio Bambino. Her magnetic presence has caught the attention of industry tastemakers worldwide, from an unexpected DM from Baby Keem to a spot on NME’s 2025 “100” list. Beyond music, she is becoming a force among culture-leading designers, with co-signs from Sinead Gorey, Di Petsa, and Jeffrey Campbell, who included DEELA in a recent campaign shot in Lagos.
With each bold move, she is carving out a legacy that reflects both her roots and her relentless ambition. DEELA isn’t just participating in the future of Afrobeats - she’s leading it. For more information on DEELA,
