Today, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Nigerian rapper and singer Blaqbonez releases the official music video for “Mary Mary,” his collaborative single with UK rapper Leostaytrill. “Mary Mary,” produced by Jae5, Blaise Beatz, and Dera, is an uptempo, high-energy record that allows both artists to showcase their lyrical dexterity and undeniable presence, highlighting why they are so highly regarded within their respective scenes. The track appears on Blaqbonez’s critically acclaimed album ‘No Excuses’, where “Mary Mary” has already emerged as a fan favourite. The “Mary Mary” video features both Blaqbonez and Leostaytrill and was shot in London during Blaqbonez’s visit to the city for London Fashion Week. This video release further cements Blaqbonez’s reputation for bold, imaginative music videos, a signature strength that has previously earned him Headies nominations for standout visuals such as “Back In Uni” and “LIKE ICE SPICE.”

Nigerian rapper and singer Blaqbonez recently released his fourth studio album, ‘No Excuses’, the 17-track album boasts an all-star lineup including AJ Tracey, Pa Salieu, Phyno, Olamide, Leostaytrill, FOLA, The Kazez, Mellissa, Young Jonn, KindlyNxsh, Brotherkupa, Wave$tar, Major AJ, Bella Shmurda, Barry Jhay, Zinoleesky, Valiant, and Ayo Maff. Production duties are handled by an equally heavyweight roster with Jae5, Magicsticks, Blaisebeatz, and Black Culture among the standout contributors. The album rollout follows a landmark moment earlier this year when Blaqbonez became the first Nigerian artist to walk the runway for Vivienne Westwood, a milestone that cements his growing influence at the intersection of music and fashion. He was also spotted front row at Vetements, MAINS, and Labrum, underscoring his rise as one of Africa’s most exciting global style icons.

Born Akumefule Chukwuemeka George in Lagos, Blaqbonez studied Computer Engineering before fully dedicating himself to music. Known for his individuality and fearless experimentation, he fuses Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, Drill, R&B, and Alté while pushing against societal norms. His previous album, ‘Emeka Must Shine’, won the 2023 Headies Award for Best Rap Album and produced viral hits including “LIKE ICE SPICE” and “NO SLEEP $$$” with Young Jonn. Over the years, he has collaborated with global stars such as Ludacris, Amaarae, Victony, Ayra Starr, CKay, JAE5, Yungs Teflon, and Black Sherif. His influence, however, extends far beyond music. He was the only Nigerian hip-hop artist to perform at BET’s Grammy Hip Hop at 50 special in 2024, has been spotlighted by The New York Times as part of Nigeria’s “new guard,” and has appeared for three consecutive years (2021–2023) on Rolling Stone’s “50 Innovators Shaping Rap’s Next 50 Years.”

Blaqbonez describes ‘No Excuses’ as his “Super Saiyan era”, a creative peak marked by fearless expression, global ambition, and a sound that pushes culture forward. The buzz surrounding the album has been undeniable: his collaboration with UK rapper Knucks on “Goldtooth” has positioned him firmly among the UK rap elite. Following the album’s release, he dropped the video for “Aura 4 Aura” featuring Pa Salieu and has been taking the project to stages across multiple cities. Now four albums deep, with awards, international collaborations, and a rapidly expanding global footprint, Blaqbonez is ending the year on a high with another video brimming with creativity and artistic expression.
