Today - 27th March - Ghanaian star Black Sherif returns with new music, PopStar, marking the start of a new era for him, moving on from IRONBOY, into new light. Produced by Joker, PopStar reveals a softer, more introspective dimension of Sherif’s artistry. It is not a declaration of excess or bravado, but a reflection, year by year, of a young artist documenting his life as it unfolds. With quiet confidence, Sherif speaks from his position in the global music landscape without exaggeration, grounded in authenticity rather than spectacle. Across his career, his evolution is unmistakable. His vocal control, live performance presence, and visual storytelling demonstrate an artist operating at a level that exceeds expectations, pushing beyond what the industry can comfortably contain. There are no handouts, no traces of self-doubt, only ambition, clarity, and a willingness to dream bigger than ever before. In PopStar, Sherif leans fully into his role, embracing it with a sense of ease: relaxed and in command. Away from music, PUMA tapped Black Sherif as well as Asamoah Gya and Fanum to unveil its 2026 World Cup kits in Brooklyn. The launch spotlighted designs for Ghana, Portugal, Senegal, and eight other nations, with the trio helping showcase the looks ahead of this year’s tournament.

Black Sherif’s ascent in the global music landscape has been nothing short of meteoric. Hailing from Ghana’s Ashanti Region, the genre-defying artist has cultivated a rapidly growing international following, captivating audiences with his distinctive voice and emotionally resonant storytelling. Sherif first emerged in 2020 with early releases such as “Money” and “Destiny,” quickly establishing himself as a compelling new voice within the Ghanaian music scene. His breakthrough came with the Sermon freestyle series, which laid the foundation for his global smash hit “Kwaku the Traveller.” The record became a worldwide phenomenon, earning the distinction of the most Shazamed song globally and generating over one million TikTok creations. Building on this momentum, Black Sherif has continued to expand his reach through high-profile collaborations with international heavyweights including Burna Boy, Vic Mensa, and Darkoo. His IRONBOY album was acclaimed and led to an iconic debut COLORS performance of ‘One’, followed by a IRONBOY tour across the US and Europe culminating with 2 sold out shows at Shepherds Bush Empire. His impact has been further recognised with 8 nominations at The Ghana Music Awards this year, plus previous nomination for Best International Flow at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, solidifying his position as one of Africa’s most exciting musical exports.

As Black Sherif prepares for what promises to be his biggest year yet, PopStar signals something even greater than before: an artist fully realised. Wise beyond his years, Sherif continues to channel themes of resilience, purpose, and self-reflection into music that transcends borders, now with a renewed sense of calm and global intent.
